Biography

Vladyslav Dovhan was born on August 6, 1998, in Chemerivtsi, Khmelnytskyi region, Ukraine. He studied saxophone and piano at music schools in Khmelnytskyi and later at the Lviv Secondary Specialized Music Boarding School named after Solomiya Krushelnytska.

He earned his Bachelor’s (2019) and Master’s (2021) degrees in Music Arts from the Lviv National Music Academy named after Mykola Lysenko. In 2024, he completed a Master’s degree in Saxophone Performance at the New England Conservatory.

In 2025, he received a PhD in Public Administration from the Vinnytsia Mykhailo Kotsiubynskyi State Pedagogical University, defending a dissertation on the state management of music education development in Ukraine.

Since 2025, he has been working in the United States as a performer and educator at Harvard University, New England Conservatory, and the Weston Friendly Society. He also teaches saxophone and wind instruments at private music schools in Massachusetts and performs as a soloist with the MetroWest Symphony Orchestra.

In 2023, he made a historic debut as the first Ukrainian conductor in 50 years at Jordan Hall, conducting a wind orchestra.

Dr. Dovhan is the author of nine academic publications, including the monograph “State Regulation of the Development of Music Education in Ukraine under Social Change.” He actively participates in international competitions, festivals, and masterclasses, and has organized over 15 charity concerts in the U.S. supporting the Defense Forces of Ukraine.

He is fluent in Ukrainian, Polish, and English and combines classical European traditions with modern Western teaching methods in his pedagogical work.
